1 cup whele self-raising flour
1 cup white self -raising flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp brown sugar
60g butter
1/2 cup sultanas
1/4 cup walnuts
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
a little extra milk to glaze
Methods:-
- Sift wholemeal and white flour with salt into a mixing bowl.
- Add sugar, rub in butter with fingertips and knead lightly.
- Add sultans, walnut and egg
- Add sufficient mild to form a light dough.
- Turn out on to a flooured board and knead lightly.
- Roll out to 1 cm thickness and cut into shapes or use a small cutter.
- Place on a scone tary.
- Glaze with milk
- Bake in a very hot oven 220C for 10 minutes or until brown and well risen.
- Makes approximately 15 scones.
