Baking make Perfect

Sultana and Walnut Scones

1 cup whele self-raising flour

1 cup white self -raising flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp brown sugar
60g butter
1/2 cup sultanas
1/4 cup walnuts
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
a little extra milk to glaze

Methods:-
  • Sift wholemeal and white flour with salt into a mixing bowl.
  • Add sugar, rub in butter with fingertips and knead lightly.
  • Add sultans, walnut and egg
  • Add sufficient mild to form a light dough.
  • Turn out on to a flooured board and knead lightly.
  • Roll out to 1 cm thickness and cut into shapes or use a small cutter.
  • Place on a scone tary.
  • Glaze with milk
  • Bake in a very hot oven 220C for 10 minutes or until brown and well risen.
  • Makes approximately 15 scones.
